Sea-faring activities were given supreme importance before and after the Christian era,
and celebrated Princes of India not only sent armies to conquer, but patronised the daring men to
settle down in the colonies established. This maritime enterprise brought ever green laurels to the
Hindu India. The migrants besides assimilating the alien culture taught the glory of our Samana
Dharma that convened several races and made them proud Indian aliens. The process of
propagation seemed very vigorous and it look several shapes. Among them building of temples
perched at a covetable place and the efforts to take Hindu religion deep roots there were quite
commendable and inimitable: for. our Dharma emphasises and implements the tenets of Panchasila
- peaceful co-existence and reciprocal co-ordination to the highest degree. Hence we can see
even today many monumental buildings and splendid temples carrying on spiritual activities to the
highest satisfaction of the natives of those countries. Hence Indianness greets the eyes of the
visitors and is thriving in the midst of unlndian traditions and conventions. Among tire temple built
for various divinities. Saivate deities predominate. Temple for Siva are many and mirroring his
unquestioned supremacy. And a few for Muruga are also seen here and there. Of the few,
at least three are deemed very important and are retaining Indian traditions in their
pristine purity,
especially in performing worship and constructional styles. And they received adoration and in
some cases imitation too.
