Thanthonrimali
- Prasanna Venkateswaraswamy Koil
This
famous cave temple enshrining the majestic icon of Sri Prasanna Venkateswwaswamy
has built up many ennobling traditions, and established a great reputation as a
vaishnava kshetra of immense spiritual significance. 13cing a cave temple, one
can see neither superb architectural styles, nor sculptural pieces adorning the
wall panels or ceilings; yet its commendable traditions are infinitely popular
and are affording emotional satisfaction to certain sections of devotional
community. Many of the ritualistic prayer services offered here are based on
agamas and conform to the pattern practised at Tirumala. The archamurti is
swayamvyakta, as it is in Seven Hills temple. Due to several singularities, and
moreover, this Prasnna Venkateswarswamy true to his name is liberal in showering
boons on the devout supplicants, its pull is mounting and luring a steady
streams, of devotees throughout the year. Some of the devotees who could not
make trips to Tirumala Balaji temple, due to infirmity, or tight work are
visiting and offering prayers here regularly equating the deity with Tirumala
Balaji. -raking of vows and redeeming them are observed here with utmost
devotional fervour as it is in Tirumala. So it is passed for a mini-Tirumala
sans imposing dimensions or awe-some sculpture adorning it.
Occasional
and annual festivals are celebrated with great devotional fervor besides the
daily prayer services carried on elaborately. Although it
is a small town, it is commanding all the facilities, like boarding an, lodging
to the theists and tourists visiting everyday.
It lies near Karur, an upcoming commercial town of Tamil Nadu connected to other
major cities by rail and road.
