Goa
- Sri Ramnath Mandir
Goa, 'the pearl of orient', with miles and miles of
coast line, famous as one of the world's most
beautiful beaches with silvery sands and palm
fringed rivers, though placed under Portugese
sovereignty for centuries, has not lost its
indigenous religion, nor its hoary traditions.
Though alien culture greets the eyes
everywhere, the Hindu customs and religious
institutions are harmoniously juxtaposed both in
country sides, or big cities like Panaji, its
capital. This small, yet charming city lying on
the left bank of silvery Mandovi river Is studded
to its bounds with many stately buildings and
holy places of worship built for both aliens and
natives.
Among the Hindu temples, Mangesh temple and
Ramnath mandir stand out prominent. The
Ramnath Mandir situated away from the city,
though quite small is possessing an air of
distinctive elegance. Traditional worship is
offered everyday. The deity is quite attractive
and wrings ventilation at first sight itself. The
mandir built in the native architectural style is
quite pleasant to sight. In its vicinity lie other
temples, like Lakshmi Narayana and
Santadurga and they are luring natives and
theists of all nationals in large numbers.
It is 35 km off the capital Panaji and accessible
by bus.
