Udagaon
- Raghunath Mandir
Although, the unbounded spectacular glory of
lord Jagannath of Puri has out shadowed the
natural brilliance and inherent eminence of
other gods in the state of Orissa, one comes
across here and there some small shrines built
for Sri Rama and a few others adorning Hindu
pantheon. A few of them due to lying amidst the
temples of super abundant sculptural splendour
and architectural grandeur of Ungaraj type of
temples, are left unnoticed, but they are never
abandoned, to speak the truth. Does banyan
tree allow any plant grow to its bloom under its
shade? This Rama temple is a standing
specimen of a very. few Vaishnava temples
extant in Orissa now. It is an elegantly built. A temple sharing all the features of Orissan
architectural style. There gyre many
mini-shrines installed with adorable deities. And
the archamurti lord Raghnunath is an exquisite
piece of sculpture that raises the hands of
devotees at first sight itself. Regular worship is
offered and periodical festivals, like Sri
Ramanavanti is celebrated with great
splendour. Huge crowds attend and feast their
eyes with color and pageantry emerging from
many devotional activities.
It lies 30 km off Nayagarh town in Orissa,
accessible by train and bus.
