KARMA |
|
The Soul, when
it takes up lordship over a body and when it leaves it, takes these with it as the wind
takes fragrances from bower to bower.
XV-8
Using the ear, the eye, and the organs of touch, taste and smell, and the mind also, it
enjoys the objects of the senses.
XV-9
It is this contact with the objects of the senses, and the attractions and attachments
thereto that in subtle form hang on to the Soul and become its Karmic load. No explanation
or theory in regard to the ultimate cause of things can be free from objections or
difficulties from the rationalist point of view. But, on the assumption of an immortal
Soul as the basis of personality no theory can be formulated more in conformity with the
known laws of nature than the Hindu doctrine of Karma. Man evolves himself exactly
according to his actions the process being unbroken by death and passing on to the next
life. |
