The unexplained
factor is the Sat of Chhandogya. It is as sublime an act of Omnipotence to create an atom
which can create a world and a law which makes it to do so, as to create the fully evolved
world by a fiat. Darwin himself has said this in beautiful words in The Origin of Species,
he law of cause and effect, which we have derived from our observations of
the material world, must be taken to have no application when we look for the Ultimate
First Cause of the Universe. At that point we must
cease to ask for a cause and surrender to the inscrutability of the Ultimate. The
non-believer may argue that if he is asked to accept Iswara as ever existent and no
questions should be asked about a prior cause for that First Cause, he may as well rest
content with universal matter and the physical forces that govern that matter as ever
existent and that we need not posit Iswara behind the universe. |
