Speak pleasingly and welcome the good ideas in what is urged on the other side. This is the way of good councilors.

I.e. an open and receptive mind is essential for councilors to fulfil their proper functions.

What makes a councilor invincible in debate is a convincing style, a good memory and fearlessness.
