Since there was no
more tulsi available, he did not take any garland to the Lord that day. That night he went to sleep with a heavy heart. But in his dream, Lord
Vishnu appeared and asked, "Why did you not bring me the tulsi garland today?"
Periyalwar or Vishnuchitta replied, "Lord! Excuse Goda for
her folly. She unknowingly wore the garland meant for you and defiled it, and so I could
not bring it to you."
The Lord said, "Vishnuchitta! I love the garland worn by
Goda more. Hereafter, bring me the garland only after she wears."
When Perlyalwar woke up he realised that Goda was no ordinary
child, but Goddess Bhudevi Herself. It was then he gave
her the name Andal. |
