SUGRIVA

Vali and Sugriva were two valiant monkey prices. They were brothers.

On the death of their father Vali became king and Sugriva, Crown Prince.

Vali was so powerful that he flew to the ends of the earth for his daily Sandhya Worship!

He carried the mighty Ravana once in a sling like a muted animal. One day a marathon fight broke out between him and a demon called Mayavi inside a tunnel. It dragged on for nearly a year, while Sugriva anxiously waited outside for his brother.

Vali never made it long to finish a foe. So when he did not return for long, and blood and froth oozed from the tunnel, Sugriva, fearing the worst, plugged the entrance to the tunnel with a huge rock, and returned home.
