PURUSHARTHAS |
|
The rishis have
written all about Dharmas in detail in Dharma Sastras. Manus Dharma Sastra is the
chief among them.
The second Purushartha is Artha.
By Artha we mean wealth, family, friends, education etc. These should be earned in the
right way. That can be done only by
following the rules of Dharma. One should not, for instance, steal money. In the same way,
we should spend money in the right
manner.
If we observe Dharma in the right way, we earn the right kind of Artha. The first leads to
the second.
The third step in our journey towards the highest goal is Kama.
Kama means desire or love. This desire should be moral. You should not covet what does not
belong to you. One marries, according to our Sastras, for the conduct of Dharma. |
