Narada smiled
and said, "I can see what ails you. You must write one more purana and that should
teach the world complete surrender to God. Then only will you attain peace of mind.
Write one on Krishna-bhakti."
After saying this Narada departed.
Vyasa felt it to be the truth and wrote the great Purana called Srimad Bhagavatam in
twelve Skandhas or Chapters.
He taught it to his son Suka.
Suka was a completely emancipated soul. When King
Parikshit was awaiting his death by serpent-bite as a result of a rishi's curse, Suka
recited this powerful purana and enabled Parikshit to overcome his fear of death and seek
the path of liberation. |
