BASIS
OF THE ARYAN INVASION THEORY |
|
Even the Tamil kings, the so-called
conquered Dravidians, proudly called themselves Aryans and trace
their dynasties back to Vedic kings. Hindu literature north and south
shows an expansion from points within in India, not an entry into the
subcontinent from a point on the outside.
There has been an attempt by modern scholars to read the Aryan
invasion into Vedic literature. Such so-called literary evidence for the
invasion, which is continually adjusted relative to new
archeological data, generally consists of misreading Vedic texts,
taking out a few lines that appear to support such ideas, and ignoring
everything to the contrary. This literary side I will focus on most in this article because it reflects the
main misconceptions created by the invasion theory, but let us
examine the archeology as well.
