BASIS
OF THE ARYAN INVASION THEORY |
|
Linguistic evidence - which is an
attempt to reconstruct a proto or original language from existent
language fragments, locate cultures on the basis of certain words
that exist in different languages, date history by supposed rates of
language change, and so on - is all soft evidence. In most cases the
ancient form of languages has not survived, or exists only partially. It is
only because the Vedas have been so well preserved that any such speculation could even be
attempted. That we moderns coming from a totally different
culture and world view can with a few language fragments
reconstruct earlier ancient languages and the history of the
cultures involved from them is indeed a great assumption!
Without verification by other sources linguistic arguments cannot
carry any weight at all.
