| The presiding deity
of this temple is Sri Venkatakrishna Swamy. He is also known as Geetacharya. King
Sumati prayed to Lord Tiruvengada of the Seven Hills to give him darsan as the
Charioteer(Sarathy) to Partha (Arjuna) in the Mahabharata War, discoursing on Geeta. The
Lord of Tiruvengada appeared in his dream and bade him go to Vrindaranya where he would
give him darsan in the form he desired. Meanwhile
Atreya Maharshi requested his spiritual preceptor Vedavyasa to choose him a proper place
for performing penance and the preceptor directed him to go to Vrindaranya on the banks of
Kairavini
