I was delighted to go through the Ms of Prof. Murthy His study on the great-Emperor Asoka gives an interesting reading. He is a profound scholar in English and History and speaks with authority on the development of the character and humanitarian services of Asoka. He brings out clearly the astounding potentialities of the great Spiritual King, who ably ruled over his vast kingdom stretching from Persia to Mysore. The transformation that suddenly came over his mind effected by the soothing touch of Upagupta a Bhuddha Bikku, raised the life of the Priyadarsin as the memorable benefactor of Humanity. He dedicated himself and his family to the service of Bhuddha whose Dhamma became the creed of his transformed life. He was a victorious spiritual hero who fought successfully against foes in and out and established peace and tranquility in his kingdom. His able administration and ministration are examples even to modern Governments.

Interesting episodes like that of Kunala's are woven finely into the main texture of this rare literary production.

The book can very well go into the hands of students in high schools and colleges.
