One
such breaking of the well-built up tradition glares into eyes of the devotees on
entering Trichambaram Krishna Temple, exactly at the opening of garbhaghiha
door. It is offering of Naivedyam to the presiding deity Sri Krishna. Sounds
very strange, isn't it? After danthadavana - brushing of teeth and snana-bath
only, anything liquid or solid is taken, normally going by the name of
breakfast. Etymological meaning attests that fast observed from night is broken.
This applies to both mortals and immortals. Even danavas too, adhered to this
scriptural injunction on hygienic grounds. If neglected willfully or
accidentally, it only amounts to transgression of the well-laid out regulations,
being handed over from father to son since the dawn of intelligence.
But
here in this holy temple, it is broken deliberately for a reason specific and
situation exigent. The explanation offered is justified and the defaulter is
exonerated, rather praised. Unduly it appears.
