The Ravana Phedi cave attracts the visitors with its grand icons of Hindu Gods, particularly that of Shiva in several
aspects such as ardhanariswara etc. Among the others, the Lakshmi temple. originally a royal assembly hall of an
erstwhile prince is visit-worthy. And from this the visitors climb up through the roof and survey the whole region
studded to
its bounds several temples of many religions. The structures of some are apse, line the
Durga temple, out of hundred or so
fifty of them lie within the fort and the rest outside With these, Aihole has earned a covetable place in the sculptural map of
India. The Banasankari temple lying near Badami is equally outstanding and occupies a significant place
among the
temples of this region. This three-storeyed shrine with a queer tower beckons the
visitors and elevates the asthikas with
Mother Banasankari's grand image sitting astride the Iion. A visit is quite rewarding spiritually and intellectually.
