It
runs-Ganga visits Krishna, according to legends, every night in the
form of the blackest crow and leaves in the morning as the whitest
swan. Its symbolical meaning goes to prove that on account of taking
bath by the sinners in large numbers during the day, Ganga becomes
tainted and turns as dark as crow, and when it bathes in the
Pavana Krishna, its sins are washed off and turns whitest. Another!
Its import though same, evidence is concrete and striking. It
appears once there was a brahmin woman notorious for her sensuality;
she used to enjoy sex with different kinds of people in the night
and take bath in the Ganges early in the morning to wash off the-
sins of prostitution. Mother Ganga was contaminated by the sins of
that vyabhicharini and was becoming crow by the night. So, she was
coming to Krishna for purification. When bathed here she was
becoming pure again. So it has a place higher than the Ganga. If the
terms of comparison are stretched further, its glorious splendor
becomes apparent and pre-eminence even at the stage of descent to
this world.
