Palani and
Panehamiritham like Tirupati and laddu are synonymous. It seems they have no
separate entities and are in a
way inseparable. Though Panchamritham is made, offered and sold in almost all
Saivate Temples, Palani panchamritham acquired such a fame that no pilgrim goes
home without taking a few tins. All but due to quality ingredients that go up
into preparation. Both theists and atheists are extremely crazy about it. On
account of special Virupakshi plantains, fine dates, fresh kismus fruits,
quality cardomus along with pure ghee and sugar candy used in right proportions,
this panchamritham can be preserved for a long period. Hence the adage - 'older
it is, greater is its taste'.
