Vemulavada's
ineffable glory rests not only on the much hallowed Rajarajeswara's Aalayam, but
a conglomeration of numerous shrines dedicated to the most venerable delites,
like Narasimha, Venugopala, Nagareswara, Sitala Devi, Kanakadurga etc. All are
visit-worthy and each has a glorious legend imbued with mysticism Their origin,
endowments and patronge extended by a long line of devout kings and
philanthropists read like phantasies and wring veneration. The Kanakadurga
temple like its counterpart at Vijayawada is enjoying a steady stream of
devotees regularly and all the year round. The mula vigraha-Kanakadurga riding
astride the lion bears striking resemblance to the prime deity at Vijayawada.
Local votaries who could not go to Vijayawada to avail the darsan of that august
principal deity, worship here and deem their prayers go to the main deity. All
the prayer services are offered on the same pattern and even the decoration too
partakes sameness. In all at it. Hence heavy rush at all times. Similar
traditions and rituals are practised during the periodical festivals too.
It
lies 25km of Karimnagar, the district head quarters town of Andhra Pradesh.
linked by bus from its surrounding towns.
