Mandapalli etched its indelible name in the temple history of our Punya Bharat
due to its association with Dhadhichi Maharshi, whose back bone turned out into
an invincible Vajrajyaudha that successfully destroyed countless demons causing
unending hardship to sages and humans in addition of Suras. This was the sacred
spot where Saturn. one of the nine planets killed two brahmin demons. Aswartha
and Pippal and freed the people from their nefarious tactics Under the advice of
Maharshis, Sivalinga called Mandeswara linga was installed by Saturn to expiate
the sin on killing those Brahmin monsters. After installation, Lord Saturn or dined
that those who worship Mandeswarlinga with gingili oil abhisheka will be
freed from all evil effects. During then, the Saptamatrukas installed the
Mother Parvathi's icon in the adjacent mandir. Surprisingly Brahma too installed
another Sivlinga. Along with them Karkotaka, who emulated the lord
Creator and called it Nageswarlinga. Finding the occasion auspicious, and
place sanctimonious, Goutama Maharshi, one of the Saptarishis too installed the
statue of Venugopalaswami in the sane place. So the same temple complex is
sanctified by the five adorable archamurtis installed in five separate mandirs - all lying in one line and side by side at it.
