This
sixteenth century holy Sakti kshetra is said to have been built by one famous
devotee by name Sri Malappa. The Chaturbhnja archamurti made of a special kind
of stone measures one metre in height. It looks extremely grand with its superb sculpture
and excellent polish. And it stands on the back of the formidable demon
Visakha lying. Daily worship is offered at three times and on these three, times
the Mother reveals herself in tree distinct and different aspects such as a
young girl lit the mornings a virgin in the noons and a fully grown woman in
the evenings. Another oddity that greets the visitors is her holding in hand, the image of
Malappa, the builder the temple. Might be
it was so made to perpetuate the name of the builder. It is a much hallowed place
of worship luring unending stream of devotees through the year Periodical festivals
are celebrated with great eclat.
It
is 25 km off Madagaon in the Ponda Taluq of Goa accessible by bus.
