Goa, though
deemed to be under the suzerainty foreigners for centuries, it has not snapped
it cultural spiritual connections with Hinduism. No doubt this was in Portugese
territory, but it never succeeded in turning Hindus into aliens for ever. Does it
not show the inner vitality and ineffable glory of Hinduism? There are scores of
Hindu temples in around its capital Panaji, declaring the splendour of immortal
Sanathana Dharma of our land. These places of worship carrying on regular prayer
services according to agamic tents, although foreign culture daubed them with some
of its constructional designs or decorational styles. This Bhagawati temple is a five
hundreded old temple carrying on worship regularly with due devotion. The icon of
Mother is quite pleasant and its decoration elevates the soul. The temple built in
Dravidian style of construction possesses, prakara, gopura, pradakshina patha,
garbha griha etc. Many adorable deities installed in well built mini-shrines.
Not only Hindus, but aliens too visit and partake the blessings of the Mother, as
she is known for her benevolence boundless. No sokarthi goes home disappointed, if
genuine prayers are offered.
It lies 28 km off Panaji, in a, small town called Pernem, accessible by bus.
