than legends, history records certain events that high lights her immaculate, immense
splendour and glory. On account of this almost all villages in Gujarat have built
mandirs for the for the Mother for regular worship. Her method of punishing the
arrogant power-mad autocrats has entered the government records and it stands as a specimen
of her ineffable glory. The story as recorded narrates that Allauddin, the Muslim bigot,
to quench his insatiable hatred for Hinduism started destroying all the holy places
of Hindu worship. Many good, old and well maintained temples like Rudramal
of Siddhapur etc, fell prey to him. Listening to the glory of this temple, he
commanded his army to bring the whole temple structure to ground level.
When the army neared the temple in the evening, they were surprised to see thousands
of stout and well-fed hens, the living replicas of Mother mount-Hen Soon their
palates became dilated and minds greedy. So they stretched their hands and grabbed almost
all lens and cooked them for food. But one escaped. Absorbed in it, they side
tracked the work entrusted. During the night, that one escaped hen started crying kukkur
kukkur kukkur.
