MATHURA - MEENAKSHI MANDIR

The walls and ceilings are adorned with rare sculpture, Illustrating several memorable episodes from Puranas, like Mother Parvathi's tapas for uniting herself with lord Siva, in wedlock and the like, together with Bhagawan Siva's sports are masterly depicted on the wall panels.

The Mother's icon is an exact prototype of Madurai Meenakshi and hypnotises the viewers with eye-catching decoration in the South Indian costume and jewels. Another miss-not item deserving veneration is the Navagrah mandap and everyone invariably offers worship to them. With its tall gopurams and vast court yards encircled by sturdy prakaras, it is a land mark visible for miles and it towers over other shrines. So visit worthy.

It lies in the centre of Mathura, the pilgrim city, accessibly by tongas, autos etc.
