  MATHURA - MEENAKSHI MANDIR

Mathura, although predominantly a Vishnava thirtha kshetra, it boasts of several magnificently built temples for Siva and Sakti also. As it is an All-India pilgrim centre; catering to the tastes and temperaments of visitors becomes a paramount necessity. So wealthy philanthropists and commercial magnets, entering the arena built awe-inspiring temples for emancipation of theist public

Among the philanthropists, who erected sacred places of worship, the Natukoti Chettirs of Tamil Nadu merit unreserved adulation and instant mention. The Meenakshi temple they built here is a bright in the Dravidian style of architecture and its immensity in proportions and grandeur in sculptural artistry far exceeds any temple built in Nagara style. Its mahadwara is embellished with superb icons of Ashtalakshmis.
