Mandi, lying on the strategically located trade route between Tibet and lndia,
is a four hundred year old town pulsating with commercial-activities round the
year. It is renowned for many of its good old temples, built and dedicated to
Lord Siva adored in several names such as Triloknath and Bhutnath and Mother
Parvathi as Tarna Devi etc. These beautifully sculptured stone temples of great
antiquity are visited by huge numbers of visitors throughout the year. Built on
a higher plinth with exquisitely adorned doom shaped spires and vast courtyards
paved artistically with colour it affords a royal banquet to the eyes and ushers
them into the sannidhi of the Mother draped m colourful silks and decorated with
dazzling gold ornaments. Tarna Devi by her shere enchanting beauty arrests the
attention of the devotees and raises their hands in veneration. She is very
popular as compassionate goddess for rowing them across the ocean of
hardships. People visit her whenever the normal tenor of life is the retained with
danger by satanic forces for peace and she grants anything liberally, if they
purge of their commissions with regrets Regular prayers are conducted with great
devotional favour and the yearly festivals on a grand scale.
It
lies at the lower end of Base galley and is accessible by bus.
