Renewed
as a famous Hindu pilgrim centre, this holy kshetra is housing many sacred
temples for many gods and goddesses. The Parabrahma shrine is an indication of
the high spiritual evolution of the builders and adores too. The uniqueness of
this temple is the absence of any icon - the object of adoration. As Parabrahma
is the absolute reality pervading the whole universe, would there be any
necessity of installing any image for worship. The conception of the believers
is as laudable as their spiritual maturity that excelled any known excellence.
Here in this unique kshetra there is kali temple visited and worshipped by
people of lower spiritual evolution. This temple is offering regular worship to
the Mother with due rituals. The Mother due to liberal grant of boons entrenched
herself in the hearts of her own admires and adorers is exercising round the
clock vigil over her votaries. Among the creditable features the temple claims is
the staging of mock fight between two groups of devotees to commemorate the
battles fought once between the Rajas of Kayamkulam and Chempakasseri, the
feudal lords, who were at logger heads with each other more often than not. It
is a fantastic occasion charged with emotion and display of martial arts. Here
Raja bhakti seems out shadowing Daivabhakti only in the form of mockery, but this
jesting is of a rare type worth witnessing.
It
lies 32 km off Quion, accessible by bus.
