Among
the post-Chandella monuments, temples in decadent state deserve special
mention and they occupy prominent space. Most of them tasted the fury of the
Muslim fanatics and were razed to ground mercilessly. But there is one that
escaped destruction and it is situated in the north west corner of Madan Sagar
bank. It is dedicated to Mother goddess popularly known as Bari Chandrika mandir.
She is very benign and succors assistance to all the pious devotees, regardless
of religion, region, race, caste, creed and cult. She is very famous in this
region and is universally worshipped with great devotional fervor. Elaborate
prayers are offered everyday and every saranarthi goes home in cheerful spirits,
due to Mother's bounteous grant of boons. Hence held in high esteem and is
visited frequently. Annual festivals too are celebrated with great eclat and
they attract huge crowds. On account of participation by all Nationals, it is a
grand event and a gala festival. When several religious creeds congregate on
special functions to offer worship with rituals the spectacles of Hindu glory
and its catholicity transport the viewers to ethereal worlds.
It is 140 km off Mahoba of Madhya Pradesh, accessible
by bus.
