The annual
festival 'Jhamu Yatra' celebrated in April-May lures huge crowds on account of
some bizarre customs During the festival, devout worshippers walk over a narrow
trench of burning charcoals with such great ease and grace that tempt even the
casual visitors too participate in it with bubbling enthusiasm. Neither do they complain
of scorching efforts, nor make retreat half way through. It is all Mother's
mahima;
they aver. As it is the star attraction the place throbs with exuberant
festivity and rollicking joy. Special devotional programmes with colour and
sound turns this into Bhulokaswarga. Moreover, situated in the valley of Prachi
affording colourful spectacles of Nature in full bloom, its enchantment on the
fun-loving youth is great and it is another plus point for visitation. The
temple owns a very big bell with some inscription, the acquisition of it
shrouded in mystery. It is a visit-worthy shrine.
It lies near
Puri accessible by bus and train.
