PURI - MARJANA MANDAPAM

This is yet another independent subsidiary shrine dedicated to Mahalakshmi in company with Mahasaraswathi and Madanmohana swamy. This goes by another popular name of Rukmini Parinaya Mandapam. The Kalyanotsav the yearly celebration of the Lord Jagannath takes place here with great pomp and splendour. It is quite spacious and holds huge bhataganas during the festival days.

Every Thursday is a special day and the deities are decorated with a wide of variety of dazzling jewels and then special rituals are performed. Smearing the icons with saffron and adoring them with special chants is the specialty that attracts the devout bhakthas in large number. Every Thursday is deemed very dear and auspicious to Mother Mahalakshmi. Worshipping confers special merits. Her liberal grant of boons is the special attraction for the performance of this ritualistic worship with great devotional fervour.

It lies in the Lord Jagannatha's temple at Puri, accessible by bus and train.
