Although
forming an integral part of Lord Sangameswar temple of international reputation,
this sublime sannidhi won world-wide recognition due to Mother's obsession for
the welfare of her devotees. It defies description, literally at it. The temple is
situated at the confluence of three rivers-Bhavani, Cauvery and Amuda and so
called the Triveni of South India. It is a famous pilgrim centre commanding
streams of bhaktas throughout the year. Daily worship is offered with elaborate
rituals specially to leer in her sannrdhi to the exclusion of Sangameswar, who
being the presiding deity of the temple enjoys special privilege. Both Mother
Vedanayaki and Lord Sangameswar are known for their infinite compassion and
succouring timely guidance and assistance to the worshippers Irrespective of their
race, religion, region-creed, cult and the like. It is recorded to history that
once a British national by name William Garrow, working as collector of the then
Coimbatore district turned a true devotee of Mother on realisation of her glory
through miracles in circulation. As his piety went on mounting, he was viewing
the Mother's sannidhi regularly through a hole made in the prakara and praying
to her soulfully as the orthodox Hindus barred the admission of
non-Indians. And thereby hangs a tale.
It
so happened-while enjoying nap he was alerted to vacate his chamber by the
All-merciful Mother in a dream. He obeyed. All on a sudden the entire bunglow
collapsed.
