  PERUR - PACHAI NAYAKI TEMPLE

This ancient temple enshrining the worshipful lord Patteeswarar, the local name for Lord Siva and Pachchai Nayaki. His beloved consort was an invaluable gift, by Karikala Cholan of great indelible fame. His priceless heritage is being visited , by streams of devotees since its inception. It is a very big shrine with sturdy prakaras, board mahadwaras, tall gopuras and several subsidary shrines for parivaradevatas. Its exquisite, sculptural wealth is a standing proof of that patron's unquenchable thirst for theism and a mark of his commendable taste. Vastness coupled with majesty enthrall the visitors and, lift their souls unknown to themselves.

The Assembly Hall going by the name of Kanaka Sabay accommodates thousands within its spacious bounds during the cultural programmes conducted regularly. It is tastefully decorated with craftsmanship meriting unqualified acclaim. The temple lies on the bank of river Noyyal. Regular worship offered with great devotional fervour, according to again tenets. As it is a holy independent sannidhi exclusively but for the Mother Pachchai Nayaki although forming a part Patteeswarar temple. Every prayer service with elaborate rituals is offered daily and during festival days her sepal entity is duly recognized and adored with as much fervour that of Lord Siva. This kshetra is mentioned as Mel Chidambaram in the legends, and is held in high veneration. Due to its nearness to Coimbatore the Manchester of South India and demonstration of several miracles, it is visited both by class and mass with boundless fervour. The patronage by the industrial rich is raising its splendour to a spectacular degree.  This priceless heritage has brought undying fame to the builder.

It lies 7 km, off Coimbatore accessible by city bus.
