MARAIKKADU - SUNDARAPEETA NAYAKI TEMPLE

Visitors invariably place at her feet turmeric powder kumkum and yellow thread to take them after chanting by the priest; believing that they usher in auspiciousness without fail. So there is heavy rush always more than in the main Siva temple.

There are severaI mini-shrines containing beautiful images of Durga. Saraswati, Lakshmi. Annapurna etc. They are worshipped with due ritualistic pooja. Nithyanaimithika pujas are conducted with great religious fervor. Annual festivals draw unending steams of devotees from several distant places, as it is one of the famous Sakti-Peethas finding its august name in Puranas.

It lies between Tiruthuraipoondi and Kadalakkarai, famous towns in Tamil Nadu, accessible by bus or train.
