  KASI - MAHALAKSHMI MANDIR

This lies near Lakshmi Kund on the wav to Viswanath mandir. It is a big tank and was called a Lakshrni Sarovar. A sixteen day festival starting-from Bhadrapada Sukla Ashtami to Asweeja Krishna Ashtami is a grand affair and a gala time for bhaktas. Sourahiya festivals also lure many devout bhaktas in thousands. Among many festivals celebrated in the temples of goddesses located in several places in the city and on ghats, Holi and Bhudika deserve special mention. They draw huge crowds and a wide variety poojas are perfumed.

Besides these periodicals celebrated with great fanfare two yatras - Navagowri yatra and Nava Durga yatra undertaken by ladies in particular are of infinite religious importance. The zeal for participation and rituals observed are imbued with such divinity that no theist ever misses them.

Nava Gouri yatra starting on the second day of Sukla Paksha every month covers nine temples situated on holy ghats like Mukhvi Malika Gouri on Gaay Ghat; Jyests Gouri on Jyesteswar Mahadev Ghat; Soubhagya Gowri near Dasaswamedh Gaht; Sringara Gouri on Mira Ghat; Lalitha Gouri on Lalitha Ghat; Bhavani Gouri in kalika street; Mangala Gouri on Lakshmana Ghat and Maha Gouri on the bank of Lakshmi kund.
