EXPLOITS OF GANESH

Ganesh was brought up with rare care and affection till he attained his 15th year. Sindhu, the dreadful demon, who enjoyed absolute power .over this region heard the birth of Ganesh and learnt that he was his Yama. So he sent several obnoxious creatures to kill him by means fraud, as Kamsa tried to get rid of Balakrishna. Ganesh destroyed several demons, like Balasur, Kuskal, Vyomasur, Kuur, Ksherna etc., and demonstrated his atiloka vaibhava and ajeya sakti. Out of extreme affection, Mother Parvathi solicited Marichi Maharishi to protect the Bala Ganesh by warding him off from the evil forces. Removing the causeless fear with the words that he was the Protector of Worlds and nothing would harm him, he taught her Ganesh Kavacha that would act as an all-protective armour; if an amulet is worn round the neck with the chanting of that potent mantra-nothing untoward would ever dare nearing the wearer. During this period, his Upanayana was performed by sage Gautama, and Viswakarma gave him powerful weapons, like Ankusa, Pasa, Parasu etc. It was then Kamalasur came with a twelve crore strong army to kill Ganesh.

Ganesh defeated in a trice the whole army and killed Kamalasur and threw away his body cutting into two pieces, when he was barely twelve years old.
