This is the biggest, ancient; well-built Vinayak temple extant in Tamil Nadu, enshrining a big sized black granite Vinayaka vigraha of about twenty feet in height. Built in the Dravidian architectural style, the temple possesses vast courtyards, spacious mandaps, imposing towers and superb sculptural pieces adorning walls and mini-shrines. The temple Pushkarini lying outside the compound is quite extensive, and with its clear water it is sewing the temple and the visitors to a commendable degree.

The garbha griha is very big and the masterly sculptured archamurti with its fine polish and excellent finish raises the hands of the devotees at first sight itself. The agamic worship is offered with utmost devotion. Several mandaps are installed with the most adorable deities, like Muruga, Parvathi etc. Though lying in 'a remote village, the temple has the biggest Vinayaka of the entire state and luring devotees round the year. Several devotional activities are conducted throughout the year. This is preferred for the celebration of auspicious events, like Shastabhdi, Vivah muhurthas etc.

It is about 15 km off Karaikudi on Karaikudi - Dindigul Highway, accessible-by bus.
