GHATI - SUBRAHMANYASWAMY DEVALAYA

It derived its name 'Ghati', due to its location amidst five Ghattas. This is famous for installation of serpent images by the barren couple, who visit and offer prayers to Lord Subrahmanya and install stone images of Nagadevatas with elaborate ritualisitic worship. It marks the redemption of the vow taken before for santhana prapti. Thousands of couples are blessed with santhana and they named the children after the presiding deity. Additionally it is always thronged by the people, who celebrate some auspicious functions, such as Choulopanayana. They are celebrated for greater efficacy and bliss.

Naga Panchami and Subbaraya Sashti - the Periodical festivals are celebrated on a grand scale drawing lakhs of people. Nithyanaimithika worship, is offered according to agama tenets. During the annual festivals a fair Jatara is held for days· Accommodation in Choultries and Lodges is available and it is connected by bus from many nearby places like Bangalore.

And it is 12 km off Doddaballapur, one of the big towns of karnataka.
