It
derived its name 'Ghati', due to its location amidst five Ghattas. This is
famous for installation of serpent images by the barren couple, who visit and
offer prayers to Lord Subrahmanya and install stone images of
Nagadevatas with elaborate ritualisitic worship. It marks the redemption of the vow taken before for santhana prapti. Thousands of couples are blessed with
santhana and they named the children after the presiding deity. Additionally it
is always thronged by the people, who celebrate some auspicious functions, such
as Choulopanayana. They are celebrated for greater efficacy and bliss.
