MADRAS - KUMARAKOTTAM - KUMARAN TEMPLE

Lying in the busy commercial centre of Madras - the metropolitan capital of Tamil Nadu, this superbly built Murugan temple is occupying a preeminent place among its counterparts strewn across the entire cosmopolitan city. It is located in the Nethaji Subhaschandra Bose Road. Its imposing tall tower adorned with sculptural nieces of great artistry is a prominent land mark in this area. The image of the presiding deity is a fine specimen of superb craftsmanship and raises the hands of the visitors. the moment they come into its magnetic aura. He is giving darsan flanked by his lovely Spouses Vale and Devasena. And they three are artistically and sumputously adorned with dazzling jewels and colourful garlands. Among the star attractions, the celebration of Makiri Parvatha festival deserves first mention. And it bears striking resemblance to Kailasaparvatha of Kandaswamy temple. As it is situated in the centre of hectic business activities, the donors are many and their endowments are numerous, so spending huge sums on annual functions. On account of granting boons out of proportion of the display of devotion, the Lord is adored with unprecedented piety and religiocity. This sacrosanct kshetra is popularly called Kumarakottam.
