Famous in legends and literature, this much-hallowed and frequently
visited yatrasthala is drawing a steady stream of visitors throughout the year.
It has fantastic legends and 'all glorify Muruga Bhagawan, who screened gods and
humans from Sanidosha by ordaining
Saneswar not to affect anyone who visit this hill temple and prays to both of
their images installed here. Moreover, the river taking its origin atop the hill
is said to possess medicinal properties and a bath in it is curing many types of
incurable skin diseases. Hence heavy rush during the rainy season as at Kutralam. At the foot of the hill, there are three temples for three august
deities, like Parameswar, Veeranarayana and Kanyakaparameswari. All are visited
with utmost devotion by every pilgrim on his visit. Just at about a mile off,
there lies the renowned cave temple dedicated to Maheswar. It is so narrow that
one has to crawl to reach the Sivalinga. In addition to Sivalinga, there is the
image of Murugan, whose powers rid the Sanigraha dosha affecting gods and
humans. Gods were relieved and humans are also being freed from the evil effects
of Sani on their soulful worship.
According
to one legend, the entire Devaganas were caught in the tight grip of Saneswar
once, and they suffered sorely from several types of calamities. None was free
from affliction.
