Despite occupying first place among the Navagrahas and held in
high esteem as the Pratyaksha Daivam and Karmasakshi, he is badly neglected and
sadly forgotten. It is perhaps in recognition and realisation of this truth, he
is adored here in a Siva temple. The builder's high refinement calls for instant
commendation and emulation without any reservation.
This
modest shrine adjacent to the Mahadwara, surmounting an imposing high tower is
enshrining the worshipful icon of Surya Bhagawan in standing posture. Adorned
with colourful garlands and glittering jewels, the Lord lifts the souls at first
sight itself. The broad forehead bearing the tripundra marks heightens the
divinity of face. It is quite enchanting and the visitors feel fortunate to
avail his darsan. Agamic worship is offered with due veneration. Annual
festivals draw huge crowds.
It
lies in Bhimavaram, of Andhra Pradesh, accessible by train and bus and it is a
rail head also.
