Nalanda conjures up an ending series of spectacular sights of imposing
buildings with spacious class rooms ringing with holy hymns and dilectical
discussions. Its glory does not end with it, but is preserved in monumental mandir
enshrining several worshipful gods of
all
denominations of Hindu
pantheon. Their spiritual eminence is not hushed up by the class room bustle,
but is enhanced by the visits made by teachers and taught to offering
obeisance to the icons - gods in shape and size , appearing in front of them,
feasting their mortal eyes the very same murtis, whom they saw with mental
eyes during lecture periods. Among the temples of fame, the Surya Bhagawan
temple draws everyone's attention and indispensable adoration; for, they are
taught, the Sun-god is the Karmasakshi, who records everything done, or
thought with his powerful rays and, produces that record to Yama, on the
Dooms day, it is said. his holy shrine has in its vicinity a holier tank useful for
pacificator bath, perhaps. It is supplying water for temple abhishek
purposes. The temple is big in size and built with an architectural design
conforming to Vastu sastra tenets.
