The icon Surya Bhagawan in standing posture gives darsan with sweet
smiling eyes that dispel ignorance and illumines both the inner and outer parts
of the viewers. It enjoyed its heyday in the past, and the munificent blessings
of the Lord manifested through demonstration of miracles are so potent that
they are maintaining their hold on people even today as exemplified by the
celebration of grand festivals twice a year in April-May and again in Oct-Nov
drawing lakes of devotees from several parts. During these yearly festivals,
great fairs are held and special prayers
service called Chaatpuja - a popular form of Sun worship extant in the state of
Bihar are offered. Lusty participation by the devout Suryopasakas is such that
huge sums of money crossing lakes is diverted for illumination and devotional
programmes. It is a miss not occassion that remains in the minds of the
visitors,. and beckons frequent visits.
It
lies adjacent to Nalanda University mansions, accessible by taxis, tongas from
the bus stand, which is accessible by bus from many nearby towns.
