BASARA

This holy Basara thirtha kshetra goes by another honorific name-Vyasapuri, on account of Vyasamaharshi's living and doing penance here. So it was called Vasara in the past, but later became popular as Basara due to the impact of Mahastrians and their language. As this sacred shrine is situated on the border of Maharastra, the number of Maharastrian devotees is exceedingly large and the frequence of their visits too is greater. In fact they treat the MOTHER as their daughter and wedded to Andhras. So she is the daughter-in-law of Andhras only according to locals. This joint property lies in a village of Basara of Muthol taluq in the district of Adilabad of Andhra Pradesh. It is accessible by bus and train and is 50 km off from Hyderabad on the Manmad - Hyderabad rail route.
