Among
the three, the Pachchala Someswaralayam attracted huge crowds during
its heyday. It is an ancient temple situated to the north of the
town. It was called Pacheeswaralayam in the past. On account of
multifarious devotional activities carried on here, day in and day
out in the post, the temple appeared evergreen like the marriage
hall with splendid and auspicious decorations. So it was called
Pachchala Someswaralayam. Moreover, the holy Someswaralinga was
adorned with several precious jewels made of marakata manikyas,
prominent being PACHCHA, so the deity went by the name of Pachchala
Someswaraswamy.
