Although some like Britishers wanted-to colonize and annex this opulent India, others tried and succeeded in plundering and exporting incalculable worth of the land found in royal palaces, or the abodes of gods. Among them, the Dutch despoiler deserves mention.

They were lawless, irreligious, barbarians who laid their soiled hands on the temple property, like icons, jewels made of glittering gold. They daringly and cunningly managed to dismantle the archamurtis installed in the innermost part of sanctum.
