Some
boldly scolded the despoiler and others grumbling despaired. Finding
the hurricane raising its intensity, the greedy despoiler had second
thoughts. Attributing it to the sacrilege done to the holy statue,
he ordered it to be hurled into the sea. A wise act! A commendable
illumination! Miraculously, the storm receded as it broke out. The
Dutch despoiler though went home, down in spirits, he was unhurt.
Hasn't his good angel counselled him in time? And he acted rightly?
When
the theft was reported duly to the local Chieftain., Thiru
Vadamalappa pillai, he managed to install one, made of panchaloha in
its place to carrying on the routine worship during the interim
period. Now begins the miracle. Meanwhile, the Lord appeared to him
in dream and directed him to go to the sea to securing the original
idol at a place, where a lemon would be seen floating and over which
a Garuda - the divine vehicle of Lord Srimannarayana circling. What
an ingenious direction!! He left for it anon in a boat and found it
at the very place as said.
