INTRODUCTION

Of course, Divinities need to be reminded, rather alerted to attend to their work, but traditions have set down some rituals and ceremonies to gratify them. It only reflects man's sincerity and duty-conscience to the Almighty Providence for creating and keeping guard over everything for peace and progress. Among the many ritualistic prayer services enjoined, waking of the Lord has gained supreme significance. The devout attach great importance and perform it with all austerities due. It begins with their daily routine and ensures trouble free work till night. With that man is satisfied and awaits the dawn for repetition. This is the order of the day and trend of life. Alas! man in his preoccupation with materialistic pursuits, perhaps, forgotten to put the awakened Lord to bed with proper rituals. But in some places of worship, this is taken up with utmost piety worth emulation. In proof-at Tirumala, this prayer service is offered with such fanfare every day regularly, that regularity itself wonders at its irregularity on identifying it. This seva goes on the name of Eakantaseva or Panpuseva.lt begins with the vigrah of Bhogi Srinivasa murti placing on the velvet bed spread in a swing and offering of ritualistic services. It is deemed an auspicious ocassions worthy of witnessing. lt is at this time, some lullabies masterly composed by the illustrious Vaggeyakara Annamacharya are sung, by none but one of his descendants, who has settled down on the hill itself for this purpose, and offering his services with great devotion, despite hereditary privileges withdrawn. His dedication is highly commendable, meriting instant emulation. Selecting from among the extant songs, a few relevant pieces are sung, the melody of which reaching the ears of Bhagawan induces sleep instantly.
