Kaladi - Sri Krishna Ambalam
This
much visited and greatly adored pretty Krishna mandir lying in close proximity
to the Sringeri shine, has an exotic back ground. Realizing the physical
debility of the aged mother to go to Purna river for daily bath, flowing a mile
off his house, Sri Sankaracharya with his soul power diverted the course of the
river to flowing near his house. When the old house-hold temple was washed by
the river due to unexpected turn taken, a new temple was built. And this is that
new one built some ten centuries back, enshrining the highly venerated Krishna
image. On account of its antiquity coupled with unprecedented divinity, it is
luring a steady stream of devotees throughout the year. All those who visit the
holy Sankaracharya peetha pay visit to this old temple and offer prayers to Lord
Krishna, who has been receiving ardent worship since Adi Sankara's installation.
The icon is quite enchanting and the worship is offered with utmost devotional fervor.
This lies in
the heart of Kaladi town of Kerala State, accessible by bus from Trichur.
