Satyabadi - Sakhigopal Mandir
Lying
mid-way between the two highly popular and greatly venerated
kshetras - Puri Jagannath on one side, and Bhuvaneswar Lingaraj
temple on the other, this small but significant sublime Krishna
kshetra is holding out special attraction for reasons more than one.
The widespread belief current in these parts is, that visit to
Purushothama kshetra - Puri is incomplete without darsan of this
Lord Krishna, popular as Sakhigopal or Sakshigopal. He is infinitely
merciful to the pious adorers and ruthlessly cruel to the
unrighteous people. He spares not the Gars indulging in wanton
deceit, perjury, fraud, hypocrisy etc. Imposters dare not enter this
shrine to swear openly in the august presence of this Dharmaprabhu,
and if done they would soon meet dire consequences, says the
sthalagna volubly. Another! yearly once only the holy feet of Sri
Radha are exposed to public view. The temple is quite decent and
does not bear marks of ostentation in any aspect, like sculptural
adornment or vast dimensions. The charming icon of archamurti in
standing posture decorated with garlands and jewels casts a spell on
the on-lookers and wrings veneration. Almost all the yatris, either
on their way to or from Puri visit this little, but great temple for
chastening their fife.
It
lies 40 km off Bhuvaneswar, the capital of Orissa, accessible
by four wheelers.
